November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The 16 days following November 25 until Human Rights Day are dedicated to the UN campaign “Orange the World” - for a world without violence against women. This year, the focus is on violence experienced by women in partnerships: “In most cases, violence against women is perpetrated by men. Most perpetrators are close to women: intimate partner violence is the most common form of violence and includes physical, sexualized, emotional, economic and psychological violence.”
We are also taking part and setting an example against violence: in the form of an orange bench placed in the A_KAFFEE and in the form of the campaign “Gewalt kommt nicht in die Tüte” (cooperation with Akafö).
From 25.11. to 6.12., a series of digital lectures will be held by LaKof NRW to mark the day of action. The lectures are free of charge for participants and have been funded by the equal opportunities offices of the FernUni Hagen, the Hochschule Südwestfalen and Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf. More information can be found in the flyer on the right.
